We are finishing our marathon. We have traveled throughout Russia and today we will visit Matushka Elena Drozdova in the town of Khovrino near Moscow, spiritually connected with St. Sergius and his parents.
Matushka talks about the children:
“I have three children. The eldest daughter Sofia is 8 years old. This year she went to 1st grade and music school, learning to play the accordion. She loves to sing, draw, and sculpt. She’s modest, kind, and attentive. She happily responds to help. She wants to become a teacher because she loves small children very much. For Christmas I asked for a soft toy Cheburashka.
The youngest sons are twins: Matvey and Svyatoslav, 6 years old. Matvey is 1 minute older. He is a kind, affectionate, sympathetic boy. He loves to play football, ride a bike, and is now learning to skate. Loves special equipment. When he grows up, he dreams of buying himself a real tractor. I asked for a remote control excavator as a gift.
Svyatoslav is a vegetarian. He doesn’t eat meat. He loves to draw. He is interested in gardening. He likes animals. A very sociable boy, inquisitive. He asks a lot of questions, wants to know everything. Dreams of becoming a pilot. He asked for a plane as a gift.
Thank you very much, our dear benefactors, for taking care of our children! God bless you!!!»
The interesting thing is that all the children have a birthday near Christmas, Sonya’s is two days after — January 9, and the twins’ birthday is January 3, so in this family these holidays are double and inseparable.
But that’s not all for today. I would like to announce that we will have a big Christmas interview with Matushka Elena tomorrow. The topic of the interview is very serious — it pertains to her personal experience of grief and acceptance of loss at the moment when the youngest child was supposed to be born. Do not miss!
Let us remind you about this family: on November 16, 2017, Deacon Svyatoslav Drozdov died suddenly.
